Can I use Coconut Oil instead of other oils?

Can I replace the olive/canola/vegetable etc oil with coconut oil in dog treat recipes?

Chef's Answer ~ Yes, you can substitute coconut oil for the oils mentioned above.

You can use a 1 for 1 ratio in substituting, also.

Since coconut oil will be solid at cooler temperatures, it's a good idea to warm it slightly to ensure an accurate measurement.

The other consideration when substituting for the coconut oil is to make sure that the other ingredients in your recipe are close to room temperature, so as to not solidify the coconut oil and make it harder to incorporate into the other ingredients.
