I want to bake some of your lollipops for my dog but I have heard that peanut butter is hard for dogs to digest. Is there an alternative to using peanut butter in this recipe?
Regards,
Leanne
Chef's Answer ~ My research regarding peanut butter being hard for dogs to digest is only when it is in a very large quantity. So the amount found in most dog treat recipes should be totally safe for your dog.
However, you can find peanut butter alternatives at health food stores. For example you should be able to use soy butter in the recipes. There is also a neat product called Peabutter. It is made from golden brown peas.
I hope these ideas help you make delicious homemade dog treats for your dog. :)
