I make my own dog treats and like to drizzle with melted yogurt chips; however, the drizzle always seems to fall off once the cookie is handled. How do I prevent it from falling off?
Chef's Answer ~ How frustrating! There are a couple of reasons why this may happen. First, the dog cookies need to be completely cooled. Probably for a couple hours to be on the safe side.
Next, are you only melting the yogurt chips, no other ingredients? That may be an issue. It is best to use what is called "flow crystals" you can find them at K9 Cakery.com.
Your kitchen environment may be a factor, too. A warm humid kitchen can be a culprit for the icing not setting on the cookie. You would then need to let the cookies set for even longer. That brings me to another issue, how long are you leaving the cookies to rest after decorating? They need to dry for about 8 to 12 hours.
One last option. If you have tried all of these and it's not giving you the results you want, you may need to try another icing. I recommend using one of the sugar free dog treat icing mixes at K9 Cakery.
I hope this helps! :)
