How do I make doggy confectionery?

I want to make my dog some "Thornton" style chocolate for Christmas but I have no idea where to start. I want to vary the flavors also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chef's Answer ~ First things first, do not use chocolate. This is a toxic food item for dogs. I'm sure you know this, but just in case, please look over the list of foods poisonous to dogs.

OK, now for some ideas. After looking at some of the images for Thorntons Chocolates, I would suggest making mini rounded dog cookies with a cookie scooper, like the shape of the blueberry dog treat muffin recipe.

Next, melt together carob chips with flow crystals, both of which you can get at K9 Cakery.com. Place the treats on a wire rack on top of a sheet pan or parchment paper. Then pour this melted mixture over the treats. Drizzle with a different colored melted topping for an extra fancy look.

Do keep in mind that these treats will be very decadent. Limit the amount or size of the treats to match your dogs health and activity level.

I hope this helps get the ideas started. Happy Dog Treat Baking! :)
