My dogs loved it so much that they waited at the outside fridge waiting for more! It is really great for training!

Allergy, sensitive tummy loved the treats

My litte Westie Maisie has tried multiple types of foods and treats and continues to struggle, she is now on an Rx food that has no wet or treat component. I was worried that she wouldn't like them - she's finicky, but she loves them. Thanks for the recipe idea it's been great!

My dog's love these treats!

I have made these quick and easy treats for my dogs with their dry dog food and they LOVE them! I added my own little twist to the recipe and now I add peanut butter and ground up dogs treats to the recipe!

treat recipe from prescription dog food
by: Suzy q tx.

Our dog loved the treats from his own dog food. I made the recipe with dry food in the processor and added water as directed. I added a tiny amount of parsley and basil to the mix baked it as directed when finished and cooled I put the treats store them in a sealed airtight containers and refrigerated them. It seems if you leave them out at room temperature in the container it tends to soften. Refrigerating is just right thanks for the idea with his restrictions due to bladder stone problems this was just the answer for being able to have a treat like other dogs siesta

Dog food treats

Hi, I was wondering if you have made your dog food treats firm or do they always come out kind of soft? I am looking for a way to make mine really hard, like a regular dog biscuit but they always seem to be soft.

Chef's Comments ~ You may want to try dehydrating your finished treats in the oven. Set your oven to its lowest temperature, usually around 200 degrees. Then put a wooden spoon in the door to keep the door cracked open. Leave the treats in until you achieve the desired consistency. I hope that helps! :)

Two paws up!

Emma is doing food trials because of suspected food allergies. She turns her nose up at the plain dry food, but LOVED the dry food treats. I will have to agree with other owners when they say that the treats smell disgusting when baking, but totally worth it to keep Emma happy! Thanks!! :)

Homemade dog treats from his regular dog food

by Kim

Hello, I wanted to thank you for the tips on making my dogs treats out of his dry food. :) He loves them! (thank god because he doesn't have much choice!)

I just wanted to let you know that your recipe says to store the dry biscuits in the fridge and only for 1 week, but once you are done baking if you turn the oven off and let the biscuits sit in there to dry they last much longer than a week! It may help some of your fans out. :)

Dry Dog Food Treats

by G & J

Our dog Teddy loved these treats. He kept staring at us and drooling while we were making them, and enjoyed licking the batter off the spoon.

Substituting one of the cups of dog food with a cup of healthy dog treats, as we did, works very well.

These treats are dog cookies, not biscuits. They have a chewy texture and are moist on the inside. (Not that we ate them!) This makes it easier for your dog to chew, especially for small dogs with small teeth.

We do not recommend dehydrating them to make them crunchy and hard if you do not intend for them to last for weeks. Overall, we love this recipe and would recommend it for any dog.

Dry dog food treats

My little boy Taz has bladder stones and can only have his prescription food. Thanks for the idea of turning the dry food into treats!!

FYI for all ... when making the dry food treats ... after you are done baking, turn the oven off and just throw the treats back in the oven to dry out. They last WEEKS instead of just a week in the fridge and you don't have to store them in the fridge if you dry them out.
