Can you use whole flax seed?

Chef's Answer ~ You could, but I don't recommend it. Since flax seeds are so small, they have the tendency to "pass through" your dog without the nutritional benefits.

You can purchase ground flax meal, or if you only have flax seeds, you can grind them at home with a spice grinder or a clean coffee grinder.
